In order to be able to present boxes in groups of two or more next to one another to a machine for the further processing of cardboard boxes which are still open on one side, the cardboard boxes, which are fed in a single row from a corresponding conveyor, are transferred by a transverse conveyor to another conveyor which guides the cardboard boxes in ranks next to one another. To this end, the transverse conveyor has crosspieces of different lengths, so that on each crosspiece, the corresponding cardboard box is guided into the correct row of cardboard boxes on the second conveyor in each case.
