PURPOSE:To obtain good vertical orientability in the stage of depositing magnetic powder on a medium substrate by pressing the medium substrate into a sandwich state right after applying a magnetic field direction perpendicularly to the medium substrate and depositing the magnetic powder on the medium substrate. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic field of a magnetic disk 10 surface is maintained at 4 kilooersted after paint is dropped onto said surface by a spinner of an ordinary method. The disk 10 surface is pressed by ''Teflon(R)'' plates 13 attached to the pole surfaces 12 of electromagnets 11 by moving the electromagnets when the film is formed to the prescribed thickness. The pressing pressure in this stage is about 1kg/cm<2>. Both of the vertical magnetic field and the specified pressure of press are acted on the disk 10 surface in the stage of depositing the paint in the above-mentioned way, by which the vertical orientability is provided to the film plane of the magnetic powder; at the same time, the volatilization of a thinner is accelerated by the effect of the press. The vertically oriented magnetic powder is thus deposited as it is and the magnetic powder is laminated in vertical orientation when the film surface is pressed.
