MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To reduce an increase in spacing loss, the scratch of the magnetic layer of a magnetic tape due to excess tension applied to the tape and the exfoliation of dust by incorporating aliphatic dibasic carboxylic acid into the magnetic recording medium so as to improve the lubricating effect by addition by a small amount and to inhibit a blooming phenomenon. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium is characterized by the presence of a layer contg. aliphatic dibasic carboxylic acid. Superior lubricity is shown by adding a small amount of the dibasic carboxylic acid. The reason that the superior lubricity is shown is considered to be that the dibasic carboxylic acid consisting of carboxylic acid and an org. group has the function of fatty acid on magnetic powder and the function of fatty acid ester on a binder in one molecule and unites efficiently the properties of them. The magnetic recording medium having improved squareness and S/N ratios and reducing an output reduction or fluctuation and drop-out is formed by preventing the blooming of the additive and uneven coating.
