PURPOSE:To improve the operating sensitivity by compensating the signal from a spool position detector by an amount corresponding to the dead zone thereof and controlling the movement of a spool according to the compensated signal. CONSTITUTION:The setting operation shaft 21 of a lift setting part 36 which controls the movement of a spool 10 is mounted in such a way that the shaft 21 is electrically driven to operate the spool to be carried to a specified position. The spool position which is detected by a spool position detector S2 is compensated by an amount corresponding to the dead zone X thereof and according to the compensated signal, the spool 10 is moved under the control. Since the spool can be completely placed under the control of the lift setting part 36 because there may be no dead zone X, an elevation controller can be provided with the elevation controlling characteristics that the spool may be controlled extremely sensitively to the operation of the lift setting part 36 without a play.
