The process comprises reaction of cpd. of formula (II) where X and Y are two identical or different halogen atoms, with alcohol of formula (III). The resulting intermediate cpds. are treated with 4-aroyl piperazine in an aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction to give cpds. which are ultimately treated with dilute acid at 20-110 deg.C for 10 minutes to 10 hrs. The prods., of formula (I) where R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heteroalkyl, R2 is aryl or heteroaryl and R3 is alkoxyl, are purified by chromatography.
