PURPOSE:A polyol to give a polyurethane resin having improved strength, heat- resistant stability, weather resistance and oil resistance, obtained by subjecting a specific butylethylpropanediol and a polycarboxylic acid to polycondensation. CONSTITUTION:A polyester polyol obtained by subjecting 2-n-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3- propanediol and a polycarboxylic acid to polycondensation. Phthalic acid, adipinic acid, dimerized linolenic acid, or maleic acid is used as the polycarboxylic acid. The polyester is reacted with a polyisocyanate, to give a polyurethane resin. Methylenebisphenyl isocyanate, tolylene diisocyanate, 1,5-naphthalene diisocyanate, etc. are used as the polyisocyanate.
