PURPOSE:To prohibit copying on a rear side when the placing states of the originals in the 1st and 2nd positions placed on an original placing plate are different by detecting and comparing said placing states and prohibiting the copying operation when both placing states are different. CONSTITUTION:The length of an original to be inserted by an original conveyor 100 is detected by inputting the signals generated by a pulse disk 114 and a sensor SEN3 into the 2nd CPU302 and counting the number of pulses during the passage of the original through the sensor SEN1 thereby obtaining the length signal of the original. The SEN4 classifies the size in the transverse direction of the original. The SEN4 is disposed in the position where said sensor turns on when the original is placed transversely and the sensor turns off when the original is placed longitudinally and whether the original is placed longitudinally or transversely is discriminated by the signals of the length and transverse size in the case of, for example, the originals of the sizes A4 and B5. Copying is prohibited when the disposing directions of the original in the position for front copying by the 1st position and the position for rear copying by the 2nd position are different. |
