The electrical underground locomotive (1) has two driver's cabs (7) and a main body (2) which contains the drive motors (3) and traction control equipment (14). The driver's cab (7) is constructed as an interchangeable component and is detachably connected (10) to the main body (2). Each driver's cab (7) has an entry and exit opening (11, 12) on each side. A number of the control and supply lines of the driver's cab are connected to the corresponding lines of the main body (2) via plug-in or press-in contacts (15). In this underground locomotive, the cab is open for entry and exiting on both sides. This prevents critical situations, for example when the exit is blocked on one side during underground operations or on tipping ramps. <IMAGE>
