PURPOSE:To obtain the resistance to environment and wear by using a base body consisting essentially of a composite oxide consisting of Mg and >=1 kinds of transition metal elements and having nonmagnetic and cubic crystal structure and forming a magnetic film on such base body. CONSTITUTION:Pure water is added to a powder mixture prepd. by mixing magnesium oxide and manganese carbonate with a wet process ball mill and drying the mixture and after such powder mixture is subjected to pelltization, the pellets are die-molded under the pressure. The molding is pressurized and hot-pressed, by which the sintered body of cubic MgMnO2 is obtd. The sintered MgMnO2 is cut and polished to obtain the MgMnO2 base plate 1. The magnetic film 4 of a single layer or laminated alternately with insulating layers 3 is formed on the base plate 1. The Magnetic head which has stable performance, is highly resistant to environment and wear and suitable for high-density magnetic recording is thus obtd. |
