PURPOSE:A remedy for hemorrhoids containing an organic solvent-soluble fraction of crude drug of zingiberaceous plant as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:1pts.wt. crude drug of zingiberaceous plant (e.g., ginger, Zingiberis Siccatum Rhizoma, Wild Siamese Cardamoms, Alphiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, etc.) is extracted with >=3pts.wt. organic solvent (e.g., ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, etc.) at 25-45 deg.C for 12-24hr. The same operation is repeated for two or three times, to give an organic solvent-soluble fraction. 0.01- 0.5wt% calculated as dry weight of the fraction is added to pharmaceutical preparation, to give a remedy for hemorrhoids. The remedy may be blended with a drug having analgesic action, antipruritic action, antimicrobial action, anti-inflammatory action, local hemostatic action, etc. besides the soluble fraction. A supposotory, ointment, oily base or spray may be used in administration.
