NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R<1> is (protected) amino; R<2> is lower aliphatic hydrocarbon group; X is N or CH] or its salt. EXAMPLE:7-[2-Ethoxyimino-2-( 5-amino-1,2,4-thiadiazol-3-yl )acetamido]-3-(1,2,5,6- tetrahydro-1-pyridyl)methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid. USE:Antibacterial agent. PREPARATION:The compound of formula II (or its salt) {e.g. 7-[2-ethoxyimino- 2-( 5-amino-1,2,4-thiadiazol-3-yl )acetamido]-3-( 1-pyridiniomethyl )-3-cephem-4-carboxylate, etc.} is reduced with a hydrogenation agent, preferably sodium borohydrate, etc., e.g. in an aqueous solvent.
