MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having low friction resistance and good running stability by forming projections of an org. material having a specific grain size or below on the top coat layer on the surface of a thin ferromagnetic film. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium which has excellent rust preventiveness, corrosion resistance, durability and running stability and is free from clogging is obtd. if the top coat layer 2 is provided on the thin ferromagnetic film 1. The excellent magnetic recording medium having low friction resistance in addition to the above-mentioned characteristics without deterioration in the electrical characteristics is obtd. if the projections 3 of the org. material sized to <=300Angstrom are formed on the surface of the layer 2. The electrical characteristics are deteriorated usually if the projections 3 exceed 200Angstrom but the projections 3 are formed of the org. material and therefore the electrical characteristics are kept within -2dB and there is the advantage of low friction on account of the org. material used for the projections 3 if the projections 3 are <=300Angstrom .
