PURPOSE:To eliminate the metallic luster of an Al thin film pattern and improve visibility by coating a transparent anode substrate forming an envelope with a PbO thin film and providing an Al thin film electrode on it to form a fluorescent character display tube. CONSTITUTION:A transparent anode substrate 1 is coated with a phosphor 2 and is stored in a vacuum container together with a filament 3 and a grid electrode 4 to form a fluorescent character display tube. In this case, a glass plate 51 is deposited with a PbO thin film 52, an Al thin film is provided on it by deposition, etc., it is patterned by photolithography to form a power feed lead wire 53 and a display section 54, then an insulating layer 55, a terminal 56, and a phosphor 57 are provided in sequence to form the anode substrate 1. Accordingly, the metallic luster of the Al thin film can be eliminated by reacting the PbO thin film 52 and Al thin films 53, 54 by calcination, and the visibility when observing the illumination from the substrate 1 side can be largely improved. |
