PURPOSE:To reduce diffusion and transmission rate of halogen active material for such as zinc-halogen cells by using an electrode material made by blending carbon fluoride to the mixture of high density polyethylene, carbon black, and graphite. CONSTITUTION:A plastic, conductive, and composite material for forming plates of cells such as zinc-halogen cells, composed of blended materials including 40- 50wt.pts. of high density polyethylene 0.95g/cm<3> or more in density, 15-40wt.pts. of carbon black having surface area of 900m<2>/g or more, and 0-25wt.pts. of graphite, is further blended with 10-40wt.pts. of carbon fluoride powder of about 1mum. Because of the composition, when the composite material is used as an electrode material in a thin thickness together with electrolytic solution, it can exhibit marked corrosion resistance against acids such as hydrochloric acid and bromic acid, its quantity of diffusion and transmission into the halogen material can be reduced, and decrease of energy efficiency of the cell due to self- discharge can be prevented. |
