Method for manufacturing thin electrodes, in particular gas electrodes, in any non-planar shape required. A homogeneous mixture of dry particles of the active components is prepared including at least one compound with electrocatalytic activity, one with electronic conductivity and PTFE fibres. A lubricant is added together with an adhesive substance which aids the covering of the dry particles with lubricant and then this mixture is formed into the electrode shape. This electrode can then be combined with a current collector by depositing a thin porous metallic film on at least part of the electrode surface. Thin electrodes are used for electrochemical apparatus such as piles and accumulators and particularly gas electrodes. Combined electrode-current accumulator assemblies and for positive electrodes or cathodes for electrochemical generators. |
