PURPOSE:The titled pharmaceutical containing an ester of alpha-linolenic acid as an active constituent. CONSTITUTION:An antiarterioscherotic pharmaceutical containing an ester of alpha-linolenic acid, e.g. triglyceride containing alpha-linolenic acid as a component or ethyl alpha-linolenate, as an active constituent. The dose thereof is 1-30g/man/day, preferably 4-10g/man/day administered once - in divided 3 portions. The pharmaceutical can be administered by an optional method, e.g. intravenous injection, and a mixture or combined drug thereof with other components or pharmaceuticals may be used. In use as the mixture or combined drug, the amount of the above-mentioned active constituent is preferably 1-10wt/vol%. In case the above-mentioned pharmaceutical is used in the form of a fat transfusion solution, 0-95wt/vol%, based on the fat, above-mentioned ester of the alpha- linolenic acid or further purified soybean oil or purified safflower oil, may be incorporated therein for use.
