PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic orientation device which is capable of the perfect orientation processing even in a high-speed coating process with high reliability, by applying a magnetic field which turns successively to the lengthwise direction from the thickness directiin of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material 3 is coated on the entire surface of a tape base 1 by a coating device 10, and the base 1 is moved toward a device 30 at a fixed speed. An orientation device 20 consists of permanent magnets 21-23, and the magnet 21 is set close to the side of the coating film formation side of a magnetic tape 5 in terms of the end face of the S pole. The end face of the S pole of the magnet 22 is set on the back side of the tape 5 and at a position close to the device 10 and opposite to the half face of the N pole of the magnet 21. While the end face of the magnet 23 is set on the back side of the tape 5 at a position close to a spare dryer device 30 and opposite to the half face of the magnet 21. The magnetic particles contained in an undried film on the tape 5 passing through among said permanent magnets receive a magnetic field which turns successively as shown by arrow heads toward the lengthwise L direction from the thickness T direction of the tape 5 in sections A-C respectively. Then said magnetic particles are arranged in a short time in the lengthwise direction of the tape 5.
