The invention relates to laminated heat exchangers which consist of tubes having an oval or similar cross-section which extend through openings in the laminas at right-angles to the lamina direction, the tubes being joined by widening to the laminas in a thermally conductive and mechanical fashion. In order to be able to carry out different circuit connections in such heat exchangers, for the purpose of achieving optimum performance, use has previously always been made of round tubes, either in the form of straight tubes with return bends soldered in on both sides or with tubes bent in a hairpin shape and having return bends soldered in only on one side. It is the object of the invention to make it possible to facilitate such connections in a simple way even with tubes of oval or similar cross-section. This is achieved in accordance with the invention by firstly producing the hairpins or return bends from a round tube and subsequently forming the parallel limbs of hairpins and return bends to produce their cross-section which deviates from the round cross-sectional shape. In this case, the forming is undertaken in each case such that, depending on the angular position of the connecting line between two juxtaposed or superimposed oval tubes, the longer axis of the oval tubes always extends essentially in the direction of flow of the gaseous medium which is applied to the heat exchanger on the outside. <IMAGE>
