FLOPPY DISK DEVICE CONTAINING HEAD CARRIAGE POSITIONING MECHANISM

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy and to reduce the cost of the titled floppy disk by providing a damper to a part of a belt which is driven by two pulleys. CONSTITUTION:An air damper 16 is attached at the side opposite to the attachment side of a carriage 7 to a belt 4. A piston 17 is attached to the belt 4 and slided in a body with the belt 4 toward an arrow head 19 within a cylinder 18. Thus the carriage 7 can be stopped smoothly to obtain the same effects as those secured by a frictional damper. Furthermore the positioning of the carriage 7 is possible with higher accuracy since no residual frictional power is produced.
