PURPOSE:To obtain a method for adjusting concn. of carbonate which permits continuous operation responding quickly to a change by adjusting the supply rate of the acid to be supplied to a tank by the deviation signal between a detection signal for the concn. of the carbonate in the tank and a set value for the concn. of carbonate. CONSTITUTION:The supply rate of a liquid or suspension contg. the carbonate to be added to a liquid mixture obtd. by mixing a liquid or suepension contg. the carbonate and a liquid or suspension contg. an acid and the supply rate of the liquid or suspension contg. said acid are simultaneously or separately adjusted by the deviation signal between the signal detecting the concn. of the carbonate in said liquid mixture and the set value for the concn. of the carbonate in the method for controlling the concn. of the carbonate in the above-mentioned liquid mixture. This method is realized by the development of the method for detecting continuously, instantaneously and online the carbonate in the liquid without the aid of manual analysis. As a result, the excessive supply of the sulfuric acid as in the conventional practice and the trouble in pH control such as an increase on the concn. of CaCO3 are eliminated.
