PURPOSE:To mass-produce a three-dimensional picture rich in reality and three- dimensional feeling on an industrial scale, by freely cutting a paper into a desired shape remarkably resembling an actual object through utilizing a photograph and laser light. CONSTITUTION:An image in a photograph 1 is divided into 4 regions according to variations in brightness of tone, and equal-brightness lines 1a, 1b, 1c are traced from the photograph 1 to provide original plate films for photo-etching with cutout patterns bounded by the equal-brightness lines. Sheets of a metal such as copper are etched by using the original plate films to produce masks 21, 22, 23, which are placed on a paper 4, and the paper 4 is irradiated with laser light by scanning with a spot of laser light L from above the masks 21, 22, 23, thereby obtaining three pieces of paper provided with cutouts 5 having the same shapes as those of the cutout patterns of the original plate films. The pieces of paper thus obtained are sequentially laminated on a mount 7 while registering small holes 6, in the order of decreasing surface area, and are adhered to each other to produce a three-dimensional picture as a reconstruction of the image in the original photograph. |
