PURPOSE:To obtain alkaline battery with stable discharge capacity by inserting negative pole zinc formed by stamping an expanded zinc plate having the porosity not less than the specific value into a metal sealing plate followed by amalgamation while dropping mercury on it. CONSTITUTION:An expanded zinc plate 1 having the porosity not less than 40% is stamped into a disc to be made into the negative pole zinc 2 for being inserted into a metal sealing plate 4, into which an insulating gasket 3 is fitted, with a punch 5 followed by dropping mercury 7 from a nozzle on its surface for being amalgamated. Next, an alkaline electrode liquid 9 is injected into the metal sealing plate 4 with a microcylinder 8. A metal container 13 made of a nickel-plated steel plate housing a black mixture 10, in which manganese dioxide powder or silver dioxide powder is mixed with graphite powder, a separator 11, in which porous polyethylene and celophane are laminated, and an electrolyte holding material 12 made of such as an acetal polyvinyl alcohol fiber and alfa cellulose, is fitted while inwardly bending the opening part of the metal container for sealing up the opening. |
