The switching cell has a door (1) which is provided with a rod-operated lock (3, 4). The rods (4) of the lock each have a row of bolts (5) which move parallel to the rod direction in elongated holes when the lock is operated, which elongated holes are cut out in two guide profiles (6, 7) which are fitted to the door. Locking is effected by the bolts engaging behind hook-shaped recesses which are cut out in a locking profile (10) which is designed integrally with a side wall (2) of the cell. If a pressure wave occurs in the cell, only the profiles (6, 7, 10) and the bolt (5) are stressed, but not the lock rod (4) which supports them. <IMAGE>
