PURPOSE:To properly adjust a setting vehicle speed and a safety inter-vehicle distance by providing a vehicle speed control means for controlling a vehicle speed to make a inter-vehicle distance the safety one based on a safety inter- vehicle distance signal. CONSTITUTION:A controller 27 of a vehicle speed control device has a set switch 29, an acceleration return switch 31, a vehicle speed sensor 33, an inter- vehicle distance sensor 35, and a normal-close contact, and further the controller has serially connected brake switch 37 and a clutch switch 39 connected with an input port 41 thereof, including a cruise lamp 43, a safety valve 45, a ventilation 47, and a vacuum valve 49 connected with an output port 51 thereof. The set switch 29 serves to set a constant speed travelling speed to a desired one in operation of a driving switch 25 as well as to adjust the safety inter-vehicle distance evaluated by the controller 27 in response to a vehicle speed detected by the vehicle sensor 33 so as to increase the above safety inter-vehicle distance when there is any car in front. |
