PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive layer stable against heat and light and superior in carrier generating ability by forming the photosensitive layer contg. a specified azo compd. CONSTITUTION:An azo compd. represented by the formula is used as a photoconductor for constituting the photosensitive layer of the photosensitive body. The carrier generating layer 2 essentially consisting of the azo compd. represented by the formula and a carrier transfer layer 3 essentially consisting of a carrier transfer material are formed on a conductive substrate 1 to form a laminate type pohotosensitive layer 4. As the conductive substrate 1, a metal plate including foil, a metal drum, or a paper or plastic film made conductive by applying, vapor-depositing, or laminating a conductive material, such as a conductive polymer or indium oxide, or a metallic thin layer of Al, Pd, Au, or the like are enumerated. As the carrier transfer material, electron acceptors, such as trinitrofluorenone, tending to easily transfer electron, as well as polymers having on the side chains. heterocyclic compds., such as poly-N-vinylcarbazole, tending to easily transfer positive holes are enumerated. |
