PURPOSE:To discriminate simply, easily and automatically categories of an inputted original made to image information and to store it in a specified memory section by setting a category item area in the inputted original. CONSTITUTION:An inputted original 1 in which a category item area 1' is provided in an image information inputting system is used. The image information of this original 1 is read by an image information inputting section 2 and stored in an image information memory 4 of an edition processing section 3. Information of a part corresponding to the item area 1' out of information stored in the memory 4 is cut out and reduced by a cut out reducing circuit 5. The information is stored in a category image information memory 6 in every item area 1', and the content of the memory 6 is analyzed to category items 1-1-1-4, and the presence of a mark for respective item is checked. Category classification is discriminated by coincidence of a predetermined mark and the checked mark, and image information is stored in a specified position of a memory section 7.
