PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium such as a magnetic tape or the like having excellent running stability and durability and less output decrease and fluctuation by providing a back coat layer for which a binder contg. a glycidyl type epoxy compd. is used on the rear of a base body having a magnetic layer on the surface. CONSTITUTION:The back coat layer incorporated therein with the glycidyl type epoxy compd. such as a glycidyl compd. consisting of polyol as skeleton, contg. >=1 glycidyl ether group in the molecule and having <=1,000mol.wt. or glycidyl type epoxy compd. consisting of polycarboxylic acid as skeleton, contg. >=1 glycidyl ester group in the molecule and having <=1,000mol.wt. together with necessary additives such as carbon black, lubricating agent, etc. is formed on the rear of the base body which has the magnetic layer on the front. The magnetic recording medium which has high joint strength to the base, obviates dislodging of the added powder, does not damage the magnetic head and magnetic layer and has excellent running stability, etc. is thus obtd. |
