Method and circuit for processing signals whose dynamic range has been modified in pre-defined fashion, in particular audio signals in which automatic identification of the dynamic response is achieved without the use of an additional identification signal by checking the signal for at least two different spectral components in terms of the direction and quantity of an amplification modification and by comparing the result of the check with the amplification modification which was caused by the pre-defined dynamic range modifier.
