PURPOSE:To provide an elastic sealant having excellent heat-resistance, low modulus, high stretchability, and excellent durability, by reacting an isocyanate compound with a specific low-molecular weight copolymer, and using the reaction product as an active component. CONSTITUTION:(A) An isocyanate compound is made to react with (B) a low- molecular weight copolymer (preferably having a molecular weight of 1,000- 20,000) prepared by copolymerizing (i) a monomer having a functional group reactive with said isocyanate compound [preferably 2-hydroxy(meth)acrylate] and (ii) a monomer having alpha,beta-unsaturated bond in the presence of (iii) a polymerization initiator consisting of an eslter-type peroxide of formula I (R1 is 1-15C alkyelen or phenylene; R2 is 2-10C alkylene or group of formula II-V; X is 2-20). The reaction product is used as an active component to obtain the objective elastic sealant.
