In a spectacle frame in which the spectacle bows can be pivoted out beyond their normal position of use against the restoring force of resiliently elastic restoring elements, the restoring elements are constructed as resiliently yielding latching devices which have a latching position which is assigned to the position of use of the bows and in which the bows are fixed in each case by means of a minimum retaining force. In a second latching position of the restoring elements, the spectacle bows are yieldingly fixed in their basic position suitable for storing the spectacles. Each bow is attached to a cylindrical hinge piece which is mounted to be capable of rotation about the pivoting axis of the bow and has a square external cross-section. Provided on the spectacle frame are leaf springs which, being resiliently prestressed, bear in each case against one of the external surfaces of the hinge piece and therefore yieldingly fix the latter in positions which are offset by 90 DEG with respect to one another. The maximum angle of adjustment of the spectacle bows is limited in each case by a hinge stop.
