This data sequence consists of an alternating sequence of information and parity bits (I, P and I(0), P(0), I(1)). To determine the spreading factor (X), the data sequence is stored in a predetermined length separated by information and parity bits (I, P), the length being given by the maximum value of the spreading factor (X). After a bit pair consisting of an information and a parity bit (I, P) has been stored, the associated syndromes are formed for each possible value of the spreading factor (X). After a predetermined number of null syndromes for a value of the spreading factor (X), this value is indicated.
