PURPOSE:To manufacture a steel sheet for enamel having superior adhesive strength to enamel at a low cost by forming a nickel coating on the surface of a steel sheet subjected to hot rolling, cold rolling and annealing and by carrying out temper rolling at a moderate draft. CONSTITUTION:A hot rolled steel sheet is descaled, cold rolled, and annealed, and a nickel coating is formed on the surface of the steel sheet by a relatively small amount such as 15-80mg/m<2>. The nickel coated steel sheet is subjected to temper rolling at 0.5-2.0% draft. The nickel coating on the surface of the steel sheet is made discontinuous to leave moderate spaces, and large etched parts are formed in the base iron by the action of a local cell. Molten glaze is infiltrated into the etched parts to improve the adhesive strength of the steel sheet to enamel. |
