PURPOSE:To enable the conversion of light output having good linearity obtained over wide latitude to a light image at a high amplification constant, by performing the multiplication of fluorescent output by using proportional fluorescence. CONSTITUTION:Visible light emitted from a light emitting layer 15 is incident on a photoelectric conversion layer 30 to be converted to a photoelectron and an X-ray image 5 is converted to an electron image by this conversion. The electron emitted from the layer 30 reveives photomultiplication in a proportional fluorescent region 40 and the region 40 is held between the layer 30 and a transparent electrode 20. By applying voltage 7 between electrodes 10, 20, the electron present in the region 40 is drifted toward the electrode 20. At the time of this drift, a gaseous atomic molecule emits light. In the case of vacuum ultraviolet rays, a light wavelength conversion layer 25 is formed to the electrode 25 is closely adhered state. By this method, a radiation image is converted to a light image and observed through the electrode 20 or detected by a TV camera. |
