PURPOSE:To judge the useful life of an ink ribbon on the basis of whether or not the color of an actually printed image accords with a desired color tone, by providing a printer with a means for storing a desired color and a means for detecting the color of an actually printed image. CONSTITUTION:A color sensor 8 is fitted onto a printing head 1 to thereby detect color information on a recording paper 4. On the other hand, a color printing controlling part 14 is provided with a color-storing means 12 and a comparator 13 for comparing a signal from the means 12 with a signal from the color sensor 8, and the result of comparison is inputted into the controlling part 14 to judge the useful life of a color ribbon 3. |
