TRACKING METHOD OF MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To perform reproduction in a state where the noises on a screen are set static at all times in a rapid traverse reproduction mode, by using a signal obtained by sample-holding the tracking error signal obtained by supplying the reference pilot signal in the order reverse to a record mode as a phase error signal of a capstan phase control system. CONSTITUTION:The output signal (d) of a comparator 10 is obtained when the reference pilot signals having different frequencies f1-f4 supplied to a terminal 5 are extracted in the order f1 f3 f4 f2 reverse to a record mode. Then the signal (d) is supplied to a sample holding circuit 34. While monostable multivibrators A and B produce a pulse output signal (c) synchronized with a head switching signal (a) with comparatively short time width by the signal (a) supplied through a terminal 31. The signal (c) is supplied to the circuit 34 as a sample pulse. Thus a partial level of the signal (d) which is under variation is sampled and held to obtain an output signal (e) as an output of the circuit 34. Then the signal (e) is used as a phase error signal of a capstan phase control system.
