PURPOSE:To reduce a windage loss of a rotary electric machine by mounting a blower in a cooler of a stator, providing a duct for circulating air out of the machine in the machine valves, and switching the valves to cool, thereby largely decreasing the air flow rate of the blower. CONSTITUTION:A blower 16 is mounted in a cooler 13 of a stator 9 in a cooling apparatus of a flywheel generator which has a rotor 3 having large flywheel effect. Further, a vent duct 17 having a vent passage switching valve 18 is provided in a concrete pit 1, and a control valve 19 for intaking atmospheric air into a machine and a discharge valve 20 for discharging air in the machine out of the machine are provided on a wind body cover 14. The blower 16 is normally stopped to naturally circulate the air out of the machine to cool, and the valve 18 is closed when a generator motor is stopped, the blower 16 is operated to forcibly cool. |
