A flow rectifier comprises a first flow-control device located in the flow path and a second flow-control device located downstream and in contact with the first flow control. These devices are positioned such that flow stagnation phenomenon generated by the first flow- control device is eliminated by the second one. The rectifier is used to control stock flow in paper-machine headboxes, where the stock is fed through perforations to be delivered as a width-wise extended film. This eliminates variations in stock flow consistency emanating from the perforated plate.
