Method and device for determining a microconstituent

A method and a device are described for determining, by means of ion chromatography, a microconstituent contained in a main constituent as an impurity or as impurities in a main component. In doing so, only the part or portion of the outflow which corresponds to the region of the microconstituent is once more passed from a detector of an ion chromatograph to a collection or sample valve. The microconstituent can therefore be determined simply and rapidly and irrespective of the type of the microconstituent to be examined.
