In a shelf unit, in particular for laboratory facilities and technical workplaces, consisting of vertical tubes, serving as supports, and horizontal tubes serving as rests for panels or the like, which tubes are connected to one another at joints and form shelf areas, provision is made for connecting pieces to be provided for the joints, which connecting pieces are fitted with two vertically aligned receptacles for tubular pieces serving as parts of the supports and each corresponding to the height of one shelf area and horizontally aligned receptacles for the tubular pieces forming the rests and corresponding to the length or the depth of one shelf area.
