Process for reprocessing salt slag

A process is described for producing a product storable in land fill from the salt slag produced in the production of aluminium, by which the salt slag is stirred in a hot solution saturated at room temperature with sodium chloride and potassium chloride, whereupon the solids storable in land fill are separated off from the aqueous phase and dried, while potassium chloride is recovered from the aqueous phase.
