In the device (10) there is provided a line section (14) through which water flows to which a small amount of concentrated disinfectant proportional to the rate of flow of water must be continuously added in metered fashion for the purpose of producing a disinfectant solution of predetermined concentration. The concentrate is aspirated by a volumetric metering pump (48) from a concentrate container (52) and fed into the line section (14). The metering pump (48), which is preferably designed as an electromagnetically driven vibratory reciprocating pump, is driven by electrical pulses whose frequency is produced, with due consideration of the pressure-dependent conveying characteristics of the metering pump, in an electrical control unit (36) from pulses of a volumeter (32) interposed in the line section (14). <IMAGE>
