A dye laser which as dye contains at least one dye from the substituted violanthrene-5,10-dione, substituted isoviolanthrene-9,18-dione or substituted perylene series. On account of the high fluorescence quantum yield and the high light and heat resistance, the dyes are suitable for use in dye lasers.
