A contacting device is described for holding switching apparatuses for mechanical and electrical connection to at least one busbar (13) or the like, having a housing (5, 5%) and a contacting part (8, 8%, 8_) which is fitted thereto, is pressed against the busbar (13) and electrically connects said busbar to the contact (4) of the switching apparatus, and having contact hooks (14), composed of insulating material, for engaging behind the busbar (13) and for absorbing the contact pressure forces acting on the contacting part (8). In order that, in overall operation, including short-circuit current, the contact pressure force which supports the magnetic effect can compensate for any lifting-off force, it is provided according to the invention that the contacting part (8) is constructed as a rod which is bent in a U-shape and whose limbs (8%, 8_) are connected to one another in a moving manner at only one end, and are electrically insulated (at 10) from one another on the remaining surface by means of a mutual separation, and that the end (8_%) of the U connecting the limbs (8%, 8_) projects laterally beyond the busbar (13). <IMAGE>
