The invention relates to a coating composition for the preservation of wood, preferably to a paint for the preservation of wood, which contains certain amounts by weight of at least one biocide, at least one organo-chemical solvent, at least one medium- and/or long-oil drying alkyd resin, at least one emulsifier, emulsifying auxiliary and/or emulsifier/emulsifying auxiliary mixture, at least one drying siccative and/or inorganic or organic pigment or dyestuff, as well as water as the remainder, and an additive comprising 0.5-10% by weight, preferably 1-8% by weight, of a free, unsaturated, higher fatty acid which is liquid at ambient temperature and contains 16-20, preferably 18, C atoms. It is preferred for the additive to consist of oleic acid or for the additive mixture to contain more than 50% by weight, preferably more than 75% by weight, (based on 100 parts by weight of additive mixture), of the additive. The invention furthermore relates to a process for the preparation of the coating composition for the preservation of wood, in which the additive is used and incorporated in a particular sequence. |
