PURPOSE:To prevent restart of reception or end of reception on the halfway in error by using a length data to represent the length of a variable length data such as a text thereby eliminating the converting means at the transmission side and reception side. CONSTITUTION:A master controller 1 and terminal devices 21-2n of the serial data transmission system are connected by lines 3, 4 and a program is stored to a main memory 12 of the controller 1 and main memories 221-22n of the devices 21-2n. Further, processors 10, 201-20n are provided to the devices 1 and 21-2n so as to attain transmission and reception based on the program. The format used for said system consists of a code data ADR representing an address transmitted after the start of text STX, a length data NUM representing the word of the text, a check sum code data CHK transmitted after the text TEXT and a code data ETX. Then the data NUM represents the length of the variable length data so as to eliminate the need for the converting means of the transmission and reception side. |
