PURPOSE:To enable emergency stopping and restarting of recording by a method wherein a stopping command is transmitted sequentially to modules starting from a module on the host side toward a module on the recording part side, and status control is conducted on a module basis. CONSTITUTION:When a recording-stopping command is supplied from a controlling panel part 14 of the printer, the stopping command is transmitted sequentially to the first module consisting of an interface part 11 and a system-controlling part 13 which are close to the host 12, the second module consisting of a raster data editing part 15 on the recording part 16 side and to the third module consisting of a recording-controlling part 17, and status control is conducted on a module basis, in such a manner that the stopping command is transmitted from one module to anither on completion of processing of data in a certain range, e.g., a one-raster amount of data. Accordingly, the operation of the printer can be stopped on completion of processing of data with a raster as a unit, and since the period of time required for processing a one-raster amount of data is short, rapid stopping can be achieved while retaining data. |
