PURPOSE:To obtain an Al alloy having such high strength that the thickness can be reduced, improved deep drawability and improved surface properties after deep drawing by specifying the amounts of Si, Fe, Mg and Mn contained. CONSTITUTION:This Al alloy consists of 0.41-0.80wt% Si, >1.25-1.75wt% Fe, 0.05-0.40wt% Mg, 0.10-0.50wt% Mn and the balance Al with impurities. In the composition, Si inhibits earing by deep drawing and increased the elongation, Fe increases the strength and makes the grains fine, and Mn and Mg increase the strength, make the grains fine, and stabilize the rate of ear by the synergistic effect. The Al alloy has both strength and ductility and superior formability in a semihardened state as well as in a softened state.
