A process by means of which a heat-shrinkable fitting for cables or pipelines provided with a separating point can be produced in a simple manner is indicated. To this end, a strip having enlargements at both longitudinal edges (2, 3) is extruded. Pieces are cut out of the enlargements so that mutually offset projections (4, 5) result. The projections (4, 5) have through-holes, through which a rod-shaped closure element can be pushed when the projections (4, 5) engage with one another in a fitting bent in a tube-like manner. The strip obtains its shrink-memory by stretching in the transverse direction and cooling in the stretched state. <IMAGE>
