Because of their low resolution compared with tube cameras, planar semi-conductor sensors can only be used to a limited extent for the electrical image conversion in video cameras. An increase in the resolution for the purpose of image conversion is achieved by means of a mechanical-optical arrangement. Introducing a thin plane-parallel optical plate 1 into the beam path between objective 4 and image plane 3, a defined image offset is produced which amounts to integral fractions of the distance between the semi-conductor rows and columns, respectively, depending on the multiplication factor of the resolution. The plane-parallel optical plate can be constructed as a circular disc having different segments. It is driven synchronously to the frame read-out rate by means of a motor 2. For the line interlace method, a simple application is obtained without signal buffer storage. <IMAGE>
