PURPOSE:To shorten a lead wire connecting the main body with a sensor and thereby to eliminate the possibility of disconnection by a construction a sensor for detecting a walk and the main body having a source cell and count-displaying an output signal from the sensor are disposed on the externl surface of the part of a shoe covering the instep of a foot. CONSTITUTION:A pedometer comprises a sensor 1 for detecting a walk, a tongue piece 4 having this sensor 1 incorporated therein, a fitting block 3 having the tongue piece 4 projected from one side thereof, and the main body 2 connected to this fitting block 3, and it is fitted to a shoe 10 by passing the tongue piece 4 through a part of a shoestring 12 in the shoe 10. Whe the sensor 1 is bent under a pressure applied by a walk or a run, a pair of contact electrodes 9 of the sensor 1 are made to contact with each other, and thereby the walk is detected. Counting the output signal of the sensor 1, the main body 2 displays the number of steps or the distance of the walk which is obtained by multiplying the number of steps by strides.
